Liujia District Chief Chen Chi-jung told a Central News Agency reporter today that according to the latest monitoring by the Chiayi Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Taiwan Wild Bird Ecological Survey Association, Beishikeng, Daqiuyuan, and Nanshikeng in Liujia District are important habitats for the Fairy Pitta in Taiwan. These delicate guests, flying across the ocean from Southeast Asia, have a high degree of loyalty to their habitat and have been recorded breeding in Liujia District for 8 consecutive years.
Chen Chi-jung said that the Fairy Pitta has recently reappeared, attracting many people to observe the ecology. He urged the public to abide by the principles of "not luring, not disturbing, not destroying" to jointly protect the Fairy Pitta's breeding home.
