Central News Agency (Reporter Chang Hsiung-feng, Taipei 27th) - The Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced today that the weather for the upcoming week will generally be sunny to cloudy, with local showers or thunderstorms expected on April 29th and 30th due to the passage of a front and strengthening northeast monsoon. Central and northern Taiwan should brace for localized heavy rain, and temperatures will slightly decrease. The weather is expected to stabilize starting May 1st (Labor Day).

CWA forecaster Huang En-hong told the Central News Agency that tomorrow, moisture will increase in eastern Taiwan, bringing showers or thunderstorms to Hualien, Taitung, and Hengchun Peninsula, while western Taiwan will be mostly cloudy to sunny. Localized short thunderstorms are possible in southern regions and mountainous areas in the afternoon.

Huang En-hong stated that on the 29th and 30th, a front will pass, and the northeast monsoon will strengthen. From the afternoon of the 29th, western Taiwan will experience localized short showers or thunderstorms, with central and northern Taiwan possibly seeing localized heavy rain. Other regions will have scattered short showers or thunderstorms.

Huang En-hong pointed out that starting May 1st, the northeast monsoon will gradually weaken, and moisture will decrease, leading to mostly cloudy to sunny skies across regions, with scattered short showers in mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoon. On the 2nd, moisture will increase in Hualien, Taitung, and Hengchun Peninsula, with a higher chance of scattered short rain. On the 3rd, another front will approach, shifting to a southerly wind, making southern Taiwan prone to localized short showers, while other regions will be mostly cloudy to sunny, with localized short thunderstorms in the afternoon. On the 4th, the front will affect central and northern Taiwan, and Yilan and Hualien, bringing localized short showers.

Regarding temperatures, Huang En-hong mentioned that tomorrow, high temperatures across regions will be approximately 30 to 33 degrees Celsius. The 30th will be the coolest, with high temperatures in northern Taiwan and Yilan/Hualien dropping to 22 to 24 degrees, central Taiwan 25-26 degrees, and southern Taiwan around 28 to 30 degrees. From the evening of the 30th to the morning of May 1st, low temperatures in central and northern Taiwan and Yilan/Hualien will be about 19 to 21 degrees, while southern Taiwan and Taitung will see 21-22 degrees. High temperatures across regions will rise above 30 degrees again during the weekend.

Huang En-hong reminded that from today until the early morning of the 29th, Matsu is prone to low clouds or localized fog, affecting visibility, and Taitung should be aware of foehn winds on the 29th. (Edited by: Guan Zhongwei) 1150427
