The gunman was apprehended, and no high-ranking officials were harmed. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Trump today to convey his best wishes, while King Charles III also privately expressed his concern.

A spokesperson for 10 Downing Street stated that Starmer spoke with Trump this afternoon (London time), expressing relief that Trump and First Lady Melania were unharmed, and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured US Secret Service personnel.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the need to restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. They noted the joint efforts of about 40 nations, led by the UK and France, following an international military planning meeting held in London on April 22-23.

Separately, King Charles III is scheduled to begin a state visit to the US on April 27, covering Washington D.C., New York, and Virginia. Plans include a state banquet hosted by Trump, bilateral talks, and a speech by the King to the US Congress.
