Thai Gov to Issue 4,000 Baht Subsidy in June to Ease Inflation Pressure

The Thai government is set to launch 'Thai Help Thai Plus,' an upgraded subsidy program expected to receive cabinet approval in May and officially start in June. Eligible individuals will receive 1,000 baht (approx. US$27) per month for four months, totaling 4,000 baht. Deputy PM Anutin Charnvirakul stated the short-term measure aims to ease cost-of-living pressures and stimulate the economy. The payments will be distributed via the 'Paotang' app. This initiative fulfills a campaign promise by the Bhumjaithai Party and builds on the 'Co-Payment Scheme' experience. The move comes as the World Bank lowered Thailand's 2026 growth forecast to 1.3%, citing vulnerability to global energy crises and potential stagflation.
