CENTRAL MESSAGE

(Tainan, April 26, Central News Agency reporter Yang Si-jui) Tainan City's Luer Community today held an experiential event simulating Koxinga's landing at the Luerhmen Estuary. Over 200 participants, dressed in ancient military attire, boarded rafts and set off fireworks along the way to simulate a naval battle scene, attracting foreign students from various universities to experience it.

The "Recreating 365 Years Ago: Koxinga's Landing" experiential event was held today at the Luerhmen Estuary. Participants first went to Zhenmen Temple to pay respects to the King of Yanping (Koxinga) and pray to heaven and earth. Then, they boarded rafts, holding banners and commander flags, slowly sailed into Luerhmen Creek, accompanied by guided explanations, simulating Koxinga's historical scene of leading his army through Luerhmen Port to attack the Dutch forces.

Tsai Teng-chin, Chairman of the Luer Community Development Association, told the media in a joint interview that the Koxinga landing experiential event has entered its 15th year. This time, nearly 250 people responded, including not only domestic students but also foreign students from countries such as the Philippines, Belize, Palau, Paraguay, Malaysia, Japan, and Vietnam.

A foreign student said they were very surprised that a local community could independently plan and organize such a water-based historical and cultural event, finding the process very interesting and a rare experience, hoping to share the event experience back home.

Li Wan-ru, Director of Xinyi Elementary School in Jiali District, Tainan City, said this was the first time they brought students to participate, hoping to help students learn about Taiwan's history in a more realistic way, and the teachers also benefited greatly. (Editor: Chang Ya-jing) 1150426
