National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) celebrated its 70th anniversary in Taiwan today. Facing the impact of the AI wave, alumni from the Class of 1986 launched the 'Qishi Excellence Program,' hoping to accompany students in establishing stability and becoming leaders who can respond to societal needs in changing times. NTHU held its 115th anniversary and 70th anniversary in Taiwan celebrations today, starting with the 'Voice of Tsing Hua' event, releasing a re-arranged commemorative vinyl record by the Music Department, and unveiling the 'Purple Light Tsing Hua Story Wall.' President W. John Kao stated that the university has recently established funds like the 'Outstanding Talent Fund' and the 'New Horizon Fund,' and promoted 'Tsing Hua's Top Ten Research Highlights.' This year, the 'Tsing Hua Future Fund' was launched to support startup teams. Representing the Class of 1986, Wang Hsiu-chun noted that while technology lowers the threshold for knowledge, it cannot replace mission and leadership. Thus, the 'Qishi Excellence Program' was established to support student participation in international competitions and volunteer services. Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an also attended, praising NTHU's contribution to talent cultivation and urban development.
