Central News Agency (Reporter Hsu Chih-Wei, Taipei, 26th) – The Ministry of Education is promoting the "Senior High School Self-Directed Learning and Space Facilities Enhancement Program." In 2025, 44 schools will be subsidized to optimize their library and learning space environments, fostering living and learning spaces that inspire students' self-directed learning.
The Ministry of Education issued a press release today, stating that self-directed learning is a crucial strategy for cultivating the qualities of future citizens, and the spatial environment is a core element in shaping behavior and qualities. The K-12 Education Administration, through the "Senior High School Self-Directed Learning and Space Facilities Enhancement Program," subsidizes schools to optimize their learning venues, creating environmental spaces that inspire students' self-directed learning and implementing the principles of "learning through play, learning through doing, and gaining through learning."
The K-12 Education Administration stated that the Senior High School Self-Directed Learning and Space Facilities Enhancement Program subsidized 30 schools in 2023, 31 schools in 2024, and 44 schools in 2025. It continues to assist schools in optimizing their library and learning space environments, promoting a comprehensive upgrade of learning venues, creating a more inspiring and supportive learning atmosphere, further stimulating students' motivation for self-directed learning, and cultivating students to become "lifelong learners."
Hsinying Vocational High School's library, through the subsidy, transformed three classrooms into multi-functional self-directed learning areas and added audio-visual media equipment, creating a technology-assisted self-directed learning environment. This provides students with learning activities such as self-directed learning, group discussions, and project-based learning, and integrates library resources to enhance students' willingness to participate in self-directed learning and improve learning effectiveness.
NCHU Affiliated Taichung Agricultural Vocational High School created the "Xingguang Self-Directed Learning Space," transforming the space with a Muji-style and Japanese Zen-style design. This created a learning environment that is both functional and comfortable. In addition to supporting curriculum use, it is also open for students' independent use, becoming a "third learning space" that connects classrooms and campus life, allowing teachers and students to immerse themselves in learning and becoming a boost for learning on campus.
