Lai Ching-te Holds Symposium in Taoyuan; 'Taoyuan Team' Formed to Win Election

DPP Chair Lai Ching-te visited Taoyuan today for a symposium with local party officials. He introduced mayoral candidate Huang Shih-chieh and his campaign team, stressing that Taoyuan holds a key position in Taiwan's democracy. He announced the formation of the 'Taoyuan Team' to demonstrate the party's determination to win back Taoyuan.

According to a press release from Huang Shih-chieh's campaign office, former party chair Hsu Hsin-liang will serve as honorary chair, and National Policy Advisor Fan Chen-hsiu will be the campaign manager. Lai emphasized that the symposium integrated local officials, at-large legislators, and city councilors to form the strongest team for the upcoming election.

Lai reflected on history, noting Taoyuan's significant contributions to Taiwan's democratic movement, specifically mentioning the 'Qiaotou Incident' which supported then-wronged Taoyuan County Magistrate Hsu Hsin-liang. He highly praised Fan Chen-hsiu as a successful entrepreneur and a stable foundation for the team.

Huang Shih-chieh stated that today's meeting marks the first step in the DPP's united effort in Taoyuan. He promised to work with all councilors and candidates with maximum passion to reclaim Taoyuan's future for its citizens.
