(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-Chen, Taipei, 26th) A 3-year-old Filipino girl was inexplicably attacked by a man surnamed Li in the main hall of Taipei Main Station yesterday, and the police arrested him for prosecution. The Railway Police Bureau today also strengthened three measures, including enhancing the density of fixed-point surveillance and utilizing civilian forces to maintain station area safety.

The Railway Police Bureau issued a press release today stating that in response to the attack on the Filipino girl, they have strengthened relevant measures, including "enhancing the density of fixed-point surveillance." This involves increasing patrols to more than three times every two hours in the main hall on the first floor of Taipei Station, the MRT connecting passage on the first basement level, the platform level on the second basement level, and the MRT connecting point on the third basement level.

Secondly, to "discover anomalies through visiting and caring teams," they will continue to form visiting and caring teams daily with Taipei station staff and security personnel. At five time slots (7 AM, 9 AM, 1 PM, 5 PM, and 9 PM), they will advise (or remove) individuals with abnormal behavior within the station area.

The Railway Police Bureau stated that the third measure is to "utilize civilian forces to maintain station area safety." They will continue to recommend that Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) hire more security personnel, combine with TRA station staff and the online police force of the Railway Police Bureau's Taipei Branch, to mutually inform and support each other in case of incidents, jointly maintaining station and train safety.

The Railway Police Bureau's Taipei Branch received a report at 2:25 PM yesterday that someone was being pushed and hit in the main hall of Taipei Station. Upon investigation, it was found that the man surnamed Li kicked the Filipino girl in the abdomen, causing swelling on her cheek and limbs. Li was then arrested and confessed that he attacked her because he was dissatisfied with the girl's frolicking and noise.

After questioning, the police transferred Li to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office on charges of attempted murder. The prosecutor then requested detention and prohibition of communication from the Taipei District Court. (Editor: Chang Mingkun) 1150426
