## Central News
(Central News Agency, Yunlin County, April 26) The "Beigang Chaotian Temple Mazu Pilgrimage," a national important folk event, will take place on May 5th and 6th. This year, the pilgrimage route has been slightly adjusted, and the number of firecracker sites reduced, with a new green corridor added to facilitate emergency and rescue services. Responsible persons from various firecracker sites attended a safety meeting today and signed a constraint agreement.

The Beigang Chaotian Temple in Yunlin annually holds its pilgrimage on the 19th and 20th days of the third lunar month, coinciding with a five-day Live Art Float Parade. This year's pilgrimage events will be held on May 5th and 6th, while the Live Art Float Parade will run from May 5th to 9th.

The Beigang Fire Department held a safety meeting today, where Beigang Squad Leader Chen Ssu-yuan promoted safe use of firecrackers. The police also warned responsible persons from various firecracker sites and temples against engaging in violent sedan-chair snatching or shouting matches with other folk art troupes, which could cause incidents. Violators will be prosecuted according to law.

Beigang Chaotian Temple stated that this year's pilgrimage procession includes 29 private troupes and 19 guardian troupes. Due to the enthusiastic participation of the public in recent years, sedan chair teams have often delayed entering the temple. Therefore, the temple has slightly adjusted the pilgrimage route this year, swapping the afternoon and evening routes to ensure smooth flow of the event.

The Live Art Float Parade will be held from May 5th to 9th. Beigang Chaotian Temple noted that 59 art floats will participate this year, 4 fewer than last year. They urged art float vehicles not to throw candies as blessings, to prevent candies from sticking to the road and causing trouble for cleaning crews, and also warned against throwing large dangerous items like brooms, as they may cause injuries to the public.

Chen Ssu-yuan stated that to facilitate emergency and rescue work, a green corridor has been added this year, extending from the intersection of Datong Road and the flood prevention road to the intersection of Datong Road and Huanan Road. This section will have no firecracker sites, ensuring convenient passage for ambulance and rescue vehicles.

This year, a total of 18 firecracker sites were approved, a decrease from 21 last year and 28 the year before. Chen Ssu-yuan reminded all firecracker site supervisors to keep a safe distance from residential areas when setting off firecrackers. Firecracker personnel must prepare a sprinkler truck, continuously flowing water pipes and buckets, and at least two qualified fire extinguishers for emergencies. Unauthorized discharge of professional fireworks will result in fines ranging from NT$420,000 to NT$2,100,000. (Edited by Chang Ya-ching) 1150426
