Central News Agency (CNA) reporter Wu Hsin-yun, Taipei, April 25 – Meteorologist Wu Derong stated that due to a frontal system, there will be rainfall across Taiwan today, with slightly falling temperatures and cooler weather in northern Taiwan. The rain will gradually subside starting tonight. On April 26 and 27, as the frontal system moves away, the weather will turn sunny and hot. Another frontal system is expected to pass on the afternoon of April 29, bringing showers and thunderstorms.

Wu Derong, an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated today in the “Xie Tian Ji Classroom” column of the Weather Application Promotion Foundation that the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) simulation shows that a frontal cloud system covered Taiwan in the early hours of today, accompanied by precipitation echoes, bringing rain to various places, with dense fog in Miaoli, Yunlin, and Chiayi.

Wu Derong said that the latest European model simulation shows that Taiwan will still be affected by the frontal system today, with a chance of localized showers in various regions during the daytime, and possibly heavier rainfall. The rain will gradually subside starting tonight.

Regarding temperatures, Wu Derong said that temperatures across Taiwan will slightly drop today, with cooler weather in northern Taiwan. Northern Taiwan will see temperatures between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius, central Taiwan between 17 and 28 degrees, southern Taiwan between 20 and 31 degrees, and eastern Taiwan between 17 and 28 degrees.

Wu Derong said that on April 26 and 27, the frontal system will move away, the weather will turn sunny and hot, and temperatures will rise day by day. There will be occasional localized brief showers in eastern Taiwan. On April 28, moisture from the south will gradually increase, and most areas will be generally cloudy to sunny and warm to hot, with occasional localized brief showers in mountainous areas and eastern Taiwan in the afternoon.

However, another frontal system will arrive on the afternoon of April 29, bringing showers and thunderstorms, leading to a sudden change in weather. On April 30, the frontal system will quickly move eastward, and after the rain, it will be cloudy, with northern Taiwan turning cooler.

Wu Derong also said that from May 1 to 3, the frontal system will move away, the weather will be sunny and hot, and temperatures will rise, with occasional localized afternoon showers in mountainous areas. On May 4, another frontal system will affect the weather, bringing changes. However, he noted that the terminal simulations of various international models are inconsistent and continuously being adjusted, indicating high uncertainty, and thus requiring continued observation.
