(Kaohsiung, April 25, Central News Agency reporter Lin Chiao-lien) The Soka Art Museum held the opening ceremony for "Imprints/Resonance/Poetry - Chuang Pu Solo Exhibition" today. The exhibition will run until July 10, featuring 89 works by Chuang Pu, including many large-scale installation art pieces. Artist Chuang Pu, maintaining his humor, said during his speech that visiting the exhibition is simply about "being happy."

The Soka Art Museum held the exhibition's opening ceremony this afternoon. Lin Chao, Chairman of the Taiwan Soka Association, stated in his speech that this exhibition is the Soka Art Museum's first major exhibition this year, featuring 89 works—a rare large-scale exhibition in recent years. Chuang Pu also invited 115 Soka partners to collaboratively create the installation art piece "I Am the Eternal Name in History."

Chuang Pu noted that some people have recently said that many museums in Taiwan exhibit foreign artists and do not value Taiwanese artists; in contrast, the Soka Art Museum has been deeply cultivating Taiwanese art for many years, "one could say it takes very good care of Taiwanese artists."

The opening of Chuang Pu's solo exhibition attracted over a hundred people today. Many visitors were infected by the vitality of the works, and laughter occasionally echoed through the exhibition hall. Among them, the installation art piece "Ruler Guard," which uses the Lu Ban ruler, a common measuring tool in Taiwan, as its medium, was particularly interesting.

Chuang Pu said that everyone has a 'ruler' in their heart, and every artist adheres to their aesthetic perspective. "Is this 'ruler' in one's heart very scientific? Very rational?" The auspicious elements within the Lu Ban ruler are very interesting; there is no such thing in the West, and Taiwan is primarily where the Lu Ban ruler is used globally. At the time, he found it very interesting and incorporated it into his work.

According to the museum, from 2022 to 2024, Soka curated "Imprints/Resonance/Poetry - Chuang Pu Solo Exhibition" with the theme "Cultural Roots - Constructing a Century of Taiwanese Art History," which toured the Soka Art Museum's Taoyuan, Annan, Xiushui, and Zhishan branches. This exhibition returns to the Soka Art Museum in Kaohsiung, hoping everyone can experience it firsthand.

After two years, the exhibition is again curated with the same theme, continuing to focus on Chuang Pu's creative trajectory. It showcases master contemporary artist Chuang Pu's charcoal sketches and recent flat works and installation art through the series "Preface. Continuation," "Near. Endless," and "Beautiful. Realm," demonstrating his subtle perceptions of daily life and creating infinite imaginative space in visual and perceptual aspects.

Soka Art Museum stated that Chuang Pu, as a Taiwanese contemporary artist, has received the National Culture and Arts Award. He studied and lived in Spain in his early years, and after years of cultural immersion, he developed rich creative thinking. Chuang Pu returned to Taiwan in the 1980s, a period of social change in Taiwan, and he participated in the establishment of art spaces such as SOCA Modern Art Studio and Yitong Park, promoting the development of Taiwanese contemporary art.
