The Ministry of Education recently held the 'Happiness in Powering Off' workshop to address parental concerns regarding excessive 3C (Computer, Communication, Consumer electronics) usage among youth. The program aims to train student affairs and counseling teachers across Taiwan through lectures and case studies.

In a press release issued today, the Ministry noted that the session held on the 23rd in Taichung City covered topics including the prevention of mobile and internet overuse, time management instructional design, and the development of positive learning habits. The core goal is to cultivate 'seed teachers' who can implement these strategies in schools.

Vice President Ko Hwei-chen of Asia University was invited as the keynote speaker. She analyzed counseling strategies for adolescent problematic internet use and the challenges faced during execution. Through practical cases and discussions on teaching strategies, she helped teachers find feasible methods for intervention.

Ko emphasized that adolescents often spend excessive time on screens seeking peer recognition. Teachers can help them step away from the internet by fostering a sense of belonging, pleasure, achievement, and value in daily life, rather than relying solely on prohibitions. Additionally, teachers can guide children to establish self-regulation and time management through collaborative discussions, helping them return to a stable learning rhythm.

The Ministry hopes that through these workshops, teachers will play a vital guiding role in responding to the digital learning needs of the new generation, collectively creating a focused, disciplined, and friendly campus environment.
