(Central News Agency reporter Lin Honghan, Los Angeles, 24th) Taiwanese emerging artist Ji Baihao's work, utilizing computer algorithms to simulate natural world dynamics, creates an immersive interactive experience, where "the artist opens up a space, allowing participants to explore within it with their bodies."

Ji Baihao's work "Life in Motion" opens today at the Los Angeles Music Center Plaza for a two-month exhibition. The venue is located in downtown Los Angeles, one of the largest performing arts centers in the United States. Ji Baihao's work is set up in a corner of the plaza, offering audiences an experience before and after performances.

Beata Calinska, Deputy Director of Digital Innovation at the Los Angeles Music Center, stated that she has long followed artists worldwide in digital art, extended reality (XR), and immersive creation, and she has found Taiwanese artists to be consistently outstanding in this field.

Calinska met staff from the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles at a music performance event, and the two sides further discussed cooperation. She laughed and said that she discovered Ji Baihao's work online and, after several video conferences with the Taiwan Academy, finally finalized the plan.

Ji Baihao's work is in an indoor space in a corner of the plaza, facing the Los Angeles City Hall across the way. The Los Angeles Music Center campus covers an area of about 5 hectares and has a history of over 60 years, including the famous landmark Walt Disney Concert Hall, which is a mecca for performing arts in Los Angeles.

The exhibition space is isolated from the outside by black curtains, and the audience actually "steps into" the artwork. In this small room, participants interact with projected images using hand gestures. From cell growth to planetary landscapes, every second of imagery and sound continuously changes and evolves.

The randomly generated images on the screen are mesmerizing, with computer algorithms behind them. Ji Baihao said that this set of algorithms simulates the rules of nature, such as the growth of microorganisms and cells, or the collective movement of migratory birds or ants; it seems chaotic but has its own logic.

He described the artist as a system designer, opening a space for the audience to explore. Through sensors, audience hand gestures enter the work, and these external data continuously evolve within the work, with different results each time.

Ma Boyuan, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, stated that the Los Angeles Music Center is an important venue for local ballet, opera, and stage plays, and the plaza often gathers many art lovers. He is pleased to see more Taiwanese artworks on such a stage. (Edited by Chang Chih-hsuan) 1150425
