KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (CNA) — Tainan's red heart guavas have arrived in Malaysia, leaving Muslim influencer Fatin (花婷) absolutely amazed. She noted that the texture is crunchier than local varieties and the vibrant red flesh offers a unique flavor. 'It's different from the guavas I remember; it made me instantly fall in love with Taiwan,' she said.
The red guava promotion is part of Tainan City's push for agricultural exports. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che recently visited Penang and Kuala Lumpur to host promotion events for 'Tainan Premium Red Guava and Winter Melon Tea Bricks,' bringing Taiwanese fruits into local supermarkets to boost visibility.
Fatin, a prominent influencer in the Malaysian Muslim community with nearly 7.5 million monthly views, expressed that bringing Taiwanese fruits to supermarkets is a great way for locals to discover Taiwan without having visited. She shared her experience live via Instagram and Facebook with her followers and Mayor Huang.
Having learned about Taiwan through pop culture and media, Fatin noted that food is a direct way to understand a place. She also observed Taiwan's efforts in creating a Muslim-friendly environment, including Halal restaurants and prayer rooms in hotels and public spaces, making it a desirable destination.
Fatin, who is learning Chinese through TV dramas, hopes to serve as a cultural bridge for the Muslim community in Malaysia to learn more about the beauty and hospitality of Taiwan. For her, a tasting experience in a Kuala Lumpur supermarket was just the beginning of her journey with Taiwan.
