Zhubei Installs "Flower of Freedom" Streetlights, Creating a New Urban Highlight

(CNA, Reporter Kuo Hsuan-wen, Hsinchu County, 24th) The Zhubei City Office stated that due to the closure of a neighboring commercial complex, the P16 parking lot suffered from insufficient nighttime lighting, affecting pedestrian safety. The city office has improved the lighting by installing characteristic "Flower of Freedom" streetlights, taking both safety and urban aesthetics into account to create a new highlight in the city center.

The Zhubei City Office in Hsinchu County issued a press release today pointing out that after the spatial improvement of the P16 parking lot was completed at the end of 2024, the parking space utilization rate increased significantly. However, due to the closure of the Carrefour mall across the street and the extinguishing of its sign lights, the original illumination disappeared, turning the area's nighttime environment dim and increasing visual blind spots.

Mayor Cheng Chao-fang told a CNA reporter that to supplement the nighttime lighting, the city office raised 1.56 million NTD for optimization, installing 7 patented "Flower of Freedom" streetlights. These streetlights break away from traditional standard fixtures, combining practical functions with urban aesthetics.

He stated that the top of the "Flower of Freedom" streetlight features a circular band of light, paired with outward-extending curved brackets, resembling a blooming flower. Structurally, it serves as a visual focal point and acts as a clear landmark at night.

Cheng Chao-fang said that the official lighting of the "Flower of Freedom" not only enhances the nighttime safety of the P16 parking lot but also adds a soft and recognizable aesthetic to the landscape. In the future, the city office will continue to integrate public art with infrastructure, allowing citizens to enjoy a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing urban environment in their daily lives.
