(CNA, Washington / Islamabad, 24th, comprehensive foreign dispatch) US officials told Reuters today that US President Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel to Pakistan in the near future to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to the itinerary first disclosed by CNN, Vice President JD Vance currently has no plans to attend, but if the negotiations make progress, he will be ready to travel to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, to participate in the talks at any time.

Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad today to discuss proposals related to resuming peace talks with the US. However, Pakistani sources indicated that he is not expected to meet with US negotiators locally during this trip.

Araghchi stated on the social platform X that he will visit Pakistan, Oman, and Russia to coordinate with partners on bilateral issues and exchange views on regional situations, emphasizing that Iran's neighbors remain Tehran's priority.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson told state media that this trip will involve consultations on the latest efforts to end the war.

Two Pakistani government sources said Araghchi's visit will be quite brief, primarily to discuss Iran's proposals for negotiations with the US, which will then be relayed to Washington by Pakistan acting as a mediator. (Translator: Hsu Jui-cheng) 1150425
