Central News Agency (Boston, 23rd, Comprehensive Foreign Report) The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced that the recipient of the 2025-26 season Sportsmanship Award is Boston Celtics guard Derrick White, who won with a total of 2826 points in the evaluation.
A Boston Celtics player has now won the NBA Sportsmanship Award for two consecutive years, with Jrue Holiday being the recipient for the 2024-25 season.
The NBA Sportsmanship Award was established in the 1995-96 season to recognize players who best exemplify sportsmanship on the court.
All 30 NBA teams first nominate one player for the award, after which a selection committee composed of league executives shortlists six individuals, one from each division, and finally, active players vote to select the winner.
White secured the award with 2826 points, surpassing Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell's 2566 points and San Antonio Spurs forward Harrison Barnes' 2466 points.
He played 77 regular-season games this season, averaging 16.5 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.4 rebounds.
White previously helped the Celtics win the NBA championship in the 2023-24 season and also represented the U.S. men's national basketball team, winning a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. (Edited by Chen Yen-chun) 1150424
