(Central News Agency reporter Lin Chang-sheng, Taipei, 24th) A female police officer surnamed Zeng from the Zhongzheng Second Police Precinct of Taipei City is suspected of illegally helping her ex-boyfriend, surnamed Huang, query personal data. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office yesterday directed police to search seven locations, including the residences of the two, and summoned them for questioning. The Taipei City Police Department's investigation found that Officer Zeng of the Zhongzheng Second Precinct was suspected of illegally assisting her ex-boyfriend, surnamed Huang, in querying citizens' personal data, which violates the Personal Data Protection Act and other offenses. The case was reported to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation.

Yesterday, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office directed the Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, Zhongzheng Second Precinct, and Inspection Office to execute search warrants issued by the court. They searched seven locations, including the residences of Zeng and Huang and Zeng's office, and notified Zeng and Huang to appear for questioning.

After late-night questioning by prosecutors, Officer Zeng was ordered to be released on NT$100,000 bail and Huang on NT$200,000 bail early this morning, both with restrictions on leaving the country or sea.

Some media reported that Officer Zeng was assigned to presidential residence security duties. The Zhongzheng Second Precinct stated that the officer's illegal conduct was unrelated to presidential residence security. In addition to investigating the case according to law, the precinct will also pursue administrative responsibility for related personnel who failed in their assessment and supervision duties.

The Zhongzheng Second Precinct stated that it proactively investigates all cases of police misconduct and maintains a stance of handling police discipline internally, without covering up, condoning, or protecting shortcomings. They will thoroughly investigate and show no leniency to purify the team and demonstrate their determination to uphold police discipline. (Editor: Li Xi-zhang) 1150424
