(Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, 24th) The first phase of the Tainan MRT Blue Line is scheduled to start construction at the end of this year. The Tainan City Government has planned 8 "MRT Development Zones" and will hold symposiums on April 28th and 30th to seek opportunities for joint development cooperation with landowners.
The Tainan City Transportation Bureau pointed out today that the Executive Yuan approved the first phase of the Tainan MRT Blue Line in October last year. The Transportation Bureau will handle the communication procedures for joint development bases along the MRT route and urban planning changes. Symposiums prior to the public exhibition of the urban plan will be held on April 28th and 30th at the Zhonghua Village Activity Center in Yongkang District and the Deguang Village Activity Center in East District, respectively.
The Transportation Bureau stated that the Phase 1 Blue Line starts from the TRA Daqiao Station in the north, runs along Provincial Highway 1, and goes south to the Cultural Center. Another branch heads east from the intersection of Zhonghua East Road and Dongmen Road to the Rende Transfer Station. The route is 8.55 kilometers long with a total of 10 stations, all located in prime urban development areas.
In addition, the city government has assessed and selected a total of 8 "MRT Development Zones" around stations such as B03, B04, B06, B07, and B08, seeking opportunities to cooperate with landowners for joint development to improve land use efficiency and development benefits, while also allowing the city government to acquire off-street MRT station facilities.
The Transportation Bureau explained that the "MRT Development Zones" can accommodate station entrances, pedestrian spaces, and MRT mechanical equipment, while other floors can be developed for multiple uses. If a consensus on development is reached, urban plan change procedures will be initiated subsequently to realize public-private collaboration and share development achievements, creating a win-win development opportunity for the private sector and the government.
