(Central News Agency reporter Yang Chi-fang, Seoul, 24th) South Korea's National Security Adviser Wei Sung-lock directly stated today that although the Coupang incident is a corporate-level issue, it is indeed affecting security talks between South Korea and the United States and should be pursued independently. Regarding the Taiwan e-entry card issue, he stressed it would not affect South Korea-China relations.

At the end of last year, a large-scale personal data leak incident occurred at South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang. While South Korea is conducting an investigation, US federal lawmakers jointly sent a letter to the South Korean ambassador to the US on the 21st, demanding an end to the suppression of American companies, including Coupang, and to not be subjected to discriminatory measures.

National Security Adviser Wei Sung-lock was also asked about the Coupang issue today during a briefing related to President Lee Jae-myung's visit to Vietnam. According to the briefing materials provided by the Blue House, Wei Sung-lock stated that although this matter is an issue between companies and is not quite suitable to become an issue between the two governments, "as of now, the Coupang issue is indeed affecting security talks between South Korea and the United States."

Wei Sung-lock pointed out that the South Korean government has always believed that linking these two directions is not ideal. Therefore, it is holding many discussions with the US side with the stance that "the Coupang issue should proceed according to legal procedures, and security talks should proceed according to the negotiations themselves." He mentioned that it is also a fact that security talks are currently delayed. "I believe this is not helpful to the overall alliance relationship, so it should not be delayed. Our position is that it should be restarted as soon as possible."

Wei Sung-lock also emphasized that the South Korean government is currently making great efforts to restart security-related agreements. "In the future, we will double our efforts to make progress in this area and report to everyone."

During the Q&A session with reporters, Wei Sung-lock also answered the question about the electronic entry card labeling issue. Regarding how to label Taiwan, he stated, "This is just a temporary minor issue and is not enough to affect the overall South Korea-China relations." (Editor: Chen Huiping) 1150424
