(Central News Agency reporter Pan Tzu-yu, Taipei, 24th) The National Development Council (NDC) is expected to lead a delegation to participate in "SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026" in Tokyo, Japan, from April 27 to 29. Taiwan and Japan will sign a cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) during the event, and this trip will serve to enhance the international visibility of Taiwanese startups.

"SusHi Tech Tokyo," hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, is one of Asia's most influential technology events. This year, it is expected to attract over 60,000 participants, 700 elite startups from around the world, and facilitate more than 10,000 matchmaking meetings, making it an important occasion for Taiwanese startups to connect with large Japanese corporations, investors, and public sectors.

The NDC today issued a press release stating that the NDC's National Startup Brand Startup Island TAIWAN project office will cooperate with the SME and Startup Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Linkou Startup Terrace and partners such as the Taiwan Stock Exchange to assist 27 startups in visiting Japan. They will also set up the largest exhibition area, the Taiwan Pavilion, to showcase Taiwan's strengths in AI, sustainability, deep tech, and other fields.

The NDC stated that besides the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan Stock Exchange, other participating partners include the New Taipei City Government, Good Food Good Things Foundation, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Industry Accelerator and Patent Development Strategy Center (IAPS), and China Development Capital.

The NDC believes this participation will achieve three objectives: enhancing the international visibility of Taiwanese startups, deepening Taiwan-Japan cooperation, and fostering bilateral cooperation opportunities. The trip will arrange for the SME and Startup Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan Intelligent Driving, and Japanese ecosystem partners to sign MOUs. It will also invite partners such as NTT East, My Tech Innovation Accelerator, and Beehive Accelerator to share Taiwan-Japan cooperation resources, creating more cross-border cooperation opportunities for startups and businesses from both sides.

In addition, five major Japanese trading companies (such as Mitsubishi Group), three major banks (such as Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation SMBC), and large corporations (such as JR East) will be invited to visit the Taiwan Pavilion to accelerate bilateral business matchmaking.

The NDC's National Startup Brand project office also plans to host the Asia-Pacific Ecosystem Partner Exchange Event, Asia MirAI Day, gathering countries such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam to strengthen Asia-Pacific innovation partnerships.

This is the NDC's third year participating in the exhibition. In the past, it has facilitated over 750 business matchmaking events and attracted Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike to visit the Taiwan Pavilion. In the future, through the Startup Island TAIWAN Tokyo Base, it will facilitate more successful Taiwan-Japan cooperation cases. (Editor: Chang Jo-yao) 1150424
