May Taiwan Stock Index Futures Surge 1,373 Points

Taipei, April 24 (CNA) – The Taipei stock market surged 1,218.25 points today, closing at 38,932.4 points. The May Taiwan Stock Index Futures (TX) settled at 39,224 points, an increase of 1,373 points, representing a positive spread of 291.6 points compared to the spot market.

The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) set the opening reference prices for the nearest two months' index futures contracts at 37,851 points for May and 37,969 points for June.

The spot market closed with a gain of 1,218.25 points at 38,932.4, with a total turnover of NT$1.0329 trillion. May TX futures finished at 39,224 points, up 1,373 points, with a trading volume of 87,079 contracts. June futures settled at 39,309 points, up 1,340 points, with 924 contracts traded. Final closing prices are subject to TAIFEX announcements.
