(CNA Reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan 24th) A man surnamed Tsai premeditated a crime on the 22nd, attacking a high school student after school in Tainan City in an attempted sexual assault. He was arrested yesterday and transferred to the Taiwan Tainan District Prosecutors Office. After questioning, prosecutors applied to the Taiwan Tainan District Court for his detention this evening.

The Tainan District Prosecutors Office stated that the Tsai man is suspected of committing major felonies, including attempted forced sexual intercourse with a minor and attempted robbery of a minor. The suspicion of his crimes is grave, and there is a risk of him repeatedly committing the same crime, destroying evidence, or fleeing, leading the prosecutors to request his detention from the court.

The attacked student was walking on a sidewalk in Yongkang District after school at 5:50 PM on the 22nd. The Tsai man, wearing a mask and gloves, approached her from behind, suddenly covering her mouth and pulling her schoolbag, attempting to drag her into an empty lot by the road.

The victim immediately struggled with Tsai and cried out for help. A passing motorcyclist noticed the situation, stopped, picked up a wooden stick from the roadside, and stepped forward to deter him. Seeing this, Tsai immediately fled. The student then used her mobile phone to take a picture of his back and reported the incident to the police accompanied by the motorcyclist.

The victim suffered multiple contusions. The police immediately formed a special task force and found Tsai riding a scooter on Shengli Road in the East District yesterday afternoon. They immediately intercepted and arrested him, bringing him to justice according to the law. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 1150424
