(CNA Reporter Jiang Ming-yen, Taipei, 24th) Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Jian Zhi-cheng stated today that the Chunghwa Telecom R&D Institute is the "Shaolin Temple of Tech" with very strong R&D energy. He encouraged them to bring out their R&D results, collaborate with Chunghwa Telecom and its 52 subsidiaries, and continue to expand the current market value of NT$156 billion.

Chunghwa Telecom held the "CHT Tech Day 2026 R&D Results Presentation" today, organized by the Chunghwa Telecom R&D Institute with the theme "Sea, Land, and Starry Sky: AI NEXT." It showcased 4 major technological fields: "Resilient Networks, Edge AIoT, AI Agents, and Digital Trust," presenting 9 forward-looking R&D results with commercial value.

Jian Zhi-cheng expressed that the Chunghwa Telecom R&D Institute is a technology Shaolin Temple with immense R&D energy and 1,500 researchers. He strongly encourages them to present their R&D results to cooperate with Chunghwa Telecom and group partners. Chunghwa Telecom currently has 52 subsidiaries; only through group collaboration between the parent and subsidiaries can more profit be generated. It has already created a market value of NT$156 billion, which he hopes to continue growing.

He mentioned that in the fourth quarter of last year, Chunghwa Telecom spun off the AI-related departments of the Institute to establish "Chunghwa InnoTech," viewing it as the "golden hen" of future AI. In addition, the IVS (Intelligent Video Surveillance) department has also been approved for submission and will form another subsidiary.

Furthermore, he stated that Chunghwa Telecom will begin constructing an all-optical network in Taiwan. If regular optical fiber networks are compared to Taiwan's regular railway (TRA), the all-optical network is the High-Speed Rail (THSR). To cope with future AIDC and applications, and because Taiwan must prepare for natural disasters and geopolitical interference, Chunghwa Telecom must preemptively build network resilience.
