Key News on US-Iran Conflict
CNA (Dubai, 23rd - Comprehensive Foreign News Report) After the breakdown of US-Iran peace talks, Iran broadcasted a video today of its commando units boarding massive cargo ships, demonstrating to the world its tightening control over the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump declared that if Iran is unwilling to negotiate, he will take military action.
According to Reuters, Trump dismissed the threat posed by Iran's "troublemaking little boats" and told reporters he believes Tehran wants to reach a deal, but Iran's internal leadership is in chaos.
Trump also stated he is in no rush to reach an agreement, but if Iran does not want to talk, "I will resolve it through military means."
Iranian state television broadcasted a video overnight showing masked troops piloting gray speedboats near the cargo ship MSC Francesca. They then climbed a rope ladder to the cabin door, jumped in, and threatened the crew with guns. The footage also showed another vessel, the Epaminondas. The video was accompanied by an action-movie-style soundtrack and had no narration throughout.
Iranian authorities stated that these two ships attempted to transit the Strait of Hormuz without authorization and were intercepted and seized on the 22nd.
Although Trump and US military officials had previously claimed that most of Iran's naval forces had been sunk, Tehran demonstrated through its actions that they still possess the capability to cause significant disruptions to the oil market. (Translated by Chang Ming-hsuan) 1150424
