(Central News Agency reporter Tseng Jen-kai, Taipei, 24th) Compound semiconductor manufacturer IET-KY is riding the optical communication boom, with its stock price soaring recently, reaching the standard for publicly disclosing trading information. It announced early this morning that its self-reported net profit attributable to the parent company in February was approximately NT$27 million, turning profitable compared to a loss of NT$135 million in the same period last year. Its single-month earnings per share reached NT$0.68.
IET-KY primarily produces compound semiconductors such as gallium arsenide (GaAs) epitaxial wafers, indium phosphide (InP) epitaxial wafers, and gallium antimonide (GaSb). It benefits from strong demand for high-speed transmission chips, driving an increase in orders for indium phosphide PIN and HBT (heterojunction bipolar transistor) epitaxial wafers.
In particular, AI has ignited demand for optical communication. At the end of 2025, IET-KY gained the favor of optical communication manufacturer Opti-X. The two parties deepened their strategic cooperative relationship through a share exchange, combining IET-KY's upstream epitaxial wafer technology with Opti-X's optical communication components and modules. They hope to provide a complete solution from "crystal growth" to "module" and jointly seize the popular next-generation co-packaged optics (CPO) business opportunity, which has also driven IET-KY's stock price to soar.
Since the beginning of this year, IET-KY's stock price has risen from NT$310 to a peak of NT$959 during Wednesday's trading this week, setting a new record, with a cumulative increase of over 2 times. (Edited by Lin Chia-hsien) 1150424
