(CNA Hong Kong, 24th, comprehensive foreign dispatch) As authorities in Tehran continue to close the Strait of Hormuz and the US maintains its blockade of Iranian ports, investors are worried about the lack of progress in US-Iran peace talks. International crude oil prices continued their upward trend today, while Asian stock markets saw more declines than gains.

According to an AFP report, due to a lack of positive news to drive buying, and with US tech giants Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple scheduled to release their earnings reports next week, investors adopted a cautious and conservative stance ahead of the weekend.

City Index market analyst Julian Pineda stated: "With recent rhetoric from Iran implying that a complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is impossible unless the US lifts its blockade, market sentiment has begun to shift to a more cautious phase."

He pointed out, "So far, negotiations have not made substantive progress, and both sides remain relatively firm in their positions. The short-term outlook is unclear, which has begun to suppress the market confidence that had been steadily recovering in recent weeks."

Asian stock markets mostly fell today, with the Taipei stock market standing out, closing up significantly by 3.23%. Hong Kong and Tokyo stock markets closed slightly higher. The Seoul stock market was nearly flat.

Stock markets in Shanghai, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Sydney, and Wellington closed lower. (Compiled by: Liu Shu-chin) 1150424
