(Central News Agency, reporter Tsai Chih-ming, Chiayi County, 24th) The "Aomori Nebuta" exhibition for the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival at Puzi Peitian Temple in Chiayi will run until May 10 and is nearing its end. The Chiayi County Culture and Tourism Bureau said today that with the Labor Day holiday approaching, they invite the public to seize the time to appreciate it and also visit the historic town of Puzi.

The General Association of Chinese Culture invited Japanese Aomori Nebuta masters Makoto Suwa, Hiroumi Hayashi, and their production team to create Nebuta lanterns of Peitian Temple's Puzima and the Three Tigers of Heaven, Earth, and Man for the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival. After the lantern festival, they were moved to Puzi Peitian Temple to be exhibited until the day after Mazu's birthday (Mother's Day).

The Culture and Tourism Bureau told the Central News Agency reporter that with the Labor Day holiday approaching, they have planned a "Puzi Micro-trip" route for the final period of the Nebuta exhibition, inviting the public to visit the ancient town of Puzi and experience the local humanities and slow-paced scenery.

First, visitors can go to "Yiyi Store." This century-old house used to be a hardware store; today, it retains the original beams and red brick walls. The third generation took over and transformed it into a rice and noodle restaurant, where handmade noodles and traditional dishes have won praise from gourmets.

In addition, "1935 Yusheng Alley" is located in a quiet alley. You can savor a cup of light-roasted single-origin coffee in this century-old house. The shop also offers a foot bath experience combined with Chinese medicinal herbs, adding a relaxing moment to the journey.

The Culture and Tourism Bureau stated that travelers who love historic buildings can head to "Qingmu House." This Japanese-Western mixed-style cypress doctor's clinic was built in 1930 and still retains its consultation room, medicine cabinets, and multiple medical artifacts. It has been transformed into a dining space, with traces of time visible throughout the building.

The Culture and Tourism Bureau said that after the Nebuta exhibition ends, the General Association of Chinese Culture will send personnel south to check the condition of the lanterns before deciding on subsequent processing. In Japan, the method of handling Aomori Nebuta after an event is to first recycle the useful parts, and then incinerate the rest to return to heaven and earth. (Editor: Li Hsi-chang) 1150424
