(CNA Reporter Wu Men-jung, Kinmen County, 24th) Four Chinese Coast Guard vessels intruded into Kinmen's waters today. Taiwan Coast Guard patrol boats sailed in parallel to monitor the situation and ordered them to change course and leave. The Coast Guard Administration's Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch stated that the Coast Guard maintains high-intensity surveillance, response, and duty deployments around the clock, resolutely defending national security.
The Coast Guard Administration's Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch (Ocean Affairs Council) issued a press release stating that around 8:00 AM today, the 12th Patrol Region discovered four Chinese Coast Guard vessels—numbered "14609", "14531", "14604", and "14530"—simultaneously approaching the southern waters of Kinmen from offshore. At 9:00 AM, they formed a fleet and intruded into Kinmen's waters from two locations, east and south of Liaoluo, Kinmen.
The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch noted that four pre-positioned Coast Guard patrol boats were immediately dispatched to sail in parallel and monitor. Using radio broadcasts in both Chinese and English, they demanded the Coast Guard vessels change course and leave. Evidence was collected throughout the process as the ships were driven away. The Chinese Coast Guard vessels sailed out of Kinmen's restricted waters at 11:03 AM.
The Branch expressed that the Chinese Coast Guard vessels persistently intruded in formation despite poor sea conditions, disregarding navigational safety. This behavior posed safety risks to passing ships and was deemed highly unprofessional and irrational.
The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch emphasized that safeguarding national sovereignty is the Coast Guard's responsibility and mission. Undeterred by severe weather, sea conditions, or any difficult situations, they maintain round-the-clock high-intensity surveillance, response, and duty deployments, firmly protecting national security.
