(Central News Agency, Reporter Yeh Su-ping, Taipei 23rd) DPP Keelung mayoral candidate Tong Tzu-wei recently filmed the travelogue program "Subscribe to Good Talent." Regarding Keelung's traffic, Tong proposed short, medium, and long-term solutions, including the continued promotion of the Keelung MRT to fundamentally improve tourism and traffic problems and inject true new momentum into the city.

The DPP issued a press release today stating that Tong Tzu-wei recently filmed the travelogue program "Subscribe to Good Talent," and the latest episode was released yesterday.

Tong Tzu-wei mentioned that having grown up in Keelung, he has witnessed the prosperity and bustle of the port city. However, over time, the city has gradually faced problems such as traffic congestion, commercial decline, and the outward migration of young people, causing a city with excellent natural conditions to stagnate.

Taking traffic as an example, Tong said that the first short-term implementation would be restructuring the city bus network to relieve citizens from the congestion at the loop station. The medium-term solution involves the "road expansion" and "main road grade separation" plans currently in communication with the Ministry of Transportation. The long-term plan is to continuously push for the Keelung MRT to fundamentally resolve tourism and traffic issues and bring true vitality to the city.

Tong Tzu-wei pondered, "Almost all port cities in the world are beautiful, why is Keelung the exception?"

He mentioned that whether on a busy schedule or resting, he likes to go to Waimushan to enjoy the unique mountain and sea views. However, disrupted routes and insufficient facilities affect the experience. Moreover, the coastline faces the problem of accumulated marine debris, affecting overall tourism quality.

Tong Tzu-wei conversed with An An, the founder of the cafe "Such a Good Room," a youth who returned home to start a business. An An smiled bitterly, saying, "When meeting friends in Taipei, we have to leave 3 hours early," and "Customers who want to visit are deterred by Keelung's traffic." Tong deeply agreed, noting that traffic profoundly affects local economic development, and over a long period, it has become the main cause of the city's stagnation.

Tong Tzu-wei proposed the idea of optimizing the public transportation network, emphasizing "saving time and convenience" as the core to improve commuting efficiency and reduce unnecessary detours. At the same time, combining sports and tourism resources on the North Coast to create diverse recreational areas and drive tourist traffic.

He pointed out that through the integrated development of transportation and tourism, it is hoped that Keelung will no longer be just a transit city. If young people are willing to stay and residents are willing to return, the city's energy can be gradually accumulated, and the true transformation and regeneration of Keelung can be realized.
