Taiwan Stocks Rise 273.36 Points

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 22nd) The Taipei stock market opened higher and moved upwards today, closing up 273.36 points at 37,878.47 points, an increase of 0.73%. The transaction amount was 946.033 billion New Taiwan Dollars.

The weighted index opened at 37,627.2 points, hitting an intraday high of 38,096.88 points and a low of 37,623.38 points; the index excluding financial stocks was 34,170.7 points, up 264.41 points.

Changes in the eight major sectors: cement/ceramics dropped 1.75%, food rose 0.09%, plastics rose 0.38%, textiles dropped 0.29%, electromechanical rose 0.88%, paper dropped 1.06%, construction dropped 0.66%, and financials rose 0.07%.

Buy orders reached 24,927,963 lots, sell orders were 16,462,626 lots, and completed transactions were 12,910,002 lots.

At the close, 482 companies advanced, 517 declined, and 97 remained unchanged.

The top 5 stocks by trading volume were UPAMC Taiwan Growth Fund, UMC, PSMC, TGI, and AUO.

The top 5 stocks by percentage gain were Chunghwa Chemical, ILI Technology-KY, Chenbro, Scientech, and Micro Silicon Electronics-Innovation.
