(Central News Agency, Reporter Chang Chien-chung, Taipei, 23rd) Taiwan stocks set multiple records today, with both the listed and OTC indices reaching new highs. The Taiwan Index Futures surpassed 39,000 points for the first time. Since April, the broader market index has cumulatively risen by over 7,000 points. Amid emerging selling pressure, the broader market fluctuated by 1,757.51 points, and trading volume exceeded 1.4 trillion New Taiwan Dollars, setting a new historic volume. Institutional investors indicated that the development of the US-Iran conflict will influence the future direction of Taiwan stocks.

Since April, driven by the strong surge in stock prices of TSMC and ASPEED (the king of stocks), Taiwan stocks have defied interference from the US-Iran war, showing a relentless upward trend and repeatedly setting new highs.

TSMC and ASPEED continued their strong momentum today, both reaching new historic prices. TSMC climbed to 2,135 NTD intra-day, while ASPEED reached 16,990 NTD, pushing the broader market index up to 38,921.95 points, setting a new historical high. The intra-day index rose by 1,043.48 points, marking the 8th largest intra-day point gain in history.

Taiwan Index Futures climbed to 39,087 points in early trading today, also hitting a record high. The OTC market index broke through the 400-point barrier for the first time intra-day, reaching 404.55 points.

According to statistics, since April, TSMC has seen a maximum cumulative increase of 375 NTD, a surge of 21.3%; ASPEED has seen a maximum cumulative increase of 6,290 NTD since April, a massive surge of 58.78%. The Taiwan stock index has risen by 7,198.96 points cumulatively from April to today's high, an increase of 22.69%; the OTC market index has risen by 96.82 points cumulatively since April, an increase of 31.46%.

The market's bullish sentiment is fiery; Yingwei's stock price also surpassed the 10,000 NTD mark on April 17, moving Taiwan stocks into the "Double 10K" era. The lineup of Taiwan's "thousand-dollar stocks" has reached an unprecedented scale of 49. The Emerging Stock Board also saw multiple stocks soar by 50% in a single day, even triggering circuit breakers.

Today, under the selling pressure of profit-taking triggered by short-term highs, both the broader market and the OTC market indices fluctuated and turned black. The broader market index swung dramatically by 1,757.51 points, closing at 37,714.15 points, down 164.32 points. The OTC market index closed at 381.32 points, down 13.76 points, a drop of 3.48%.

The centralized market and OTC market of Taiwan stocks also synchronously set new historic volumes today. The trading volume of the broader market was 1.4014 trillion NTD, and the OTC market trading volume was 410.5 billion NTD, totaling 1.8119 trillion NTD.

Senior analyst Wang Chao-li stated that Taiwan stocks showed signs of short-term overheating, leading to indiscriminate selling intra-day. However, as the selling pressure is gradually digested, the broader market has a chance to enter a box consolidation phase.

Huang Kuo-wei, Vice General Manager of Mega International Investment Services, mentioned that the recent trend of Taiwan stocks seems unaffected by the US-Iran war disturbances. Nevertheless, investors should still pay attention to the subsequent developments of the US-Iran conflict and its impact on the future direction of Taiwan stocks.

In addition, the US Federal Reserve's (FED) views on the inflation and economic impacts of the US-Iran war, as well as the financial performance and operational outlook of Cloud Service Providers (CSP), are also key points of market focus going forward. (Editor: Chang Liang-chih) 1150423
