(CNA Reporter Lin Chang-shun, Taipei, 23rd) A female police officer surnamed Tseng from the Taipei City Police Department's Zhongzheng Second Precinct is suspected of illegally helping her ex-boyfriend, surnamed Huang, look up personal data. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office directed the Taipei City Criminal Investigation Division and the Zhongzheng Second Precinct today to search seven locations, including the residences of Tseng and Huang, and summoned both of them for questioning.
According to an investigation by the Taipei City Police Department, Officer Tseng of the Zhongzheng Second Precinct allegedly violated the Personal Data Protection Act and other offenses by illegally assisting her ex-boyfriend in querying citizens' personal information. The department recently discovered this through internal self-purification and self-inspection, and reported it to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office to direct an investigation.
Today, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office directed units including the Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, Zhongzheng Second Precinct, and Inspector's Office to execute search warrants issued by the court. They searched a total of seven locations, including the residences of Tseng and Huang, as well as Tseng's office workspace. They also notified Tseng and Huang to appear for questioning.
