(CNA, Taipei, 23rd) With the May tax filing season approaching, to encourage the public to use their smartphones to complete their consolidated income tax settlement filings, the Ministry of Finance is launching a national lottery event this year. Taxpayers who use a mobile phone to complete their tax filing will get a chance to enter a draw. The grand prize is NT$50,000 in cash, and the total prize pool is NT$5.25 million. It is expected that 19,586 lucky winners will be drawn in August.

The Ministry of Finance held a press conference today on the 2025 income tax settlement filing. Song Hsiu-ling, Director-General of the Taxation Administration; Chang Wen-hsi, Director-General of the Fiscal Information Agency; and Weng Pei-yu, Director of the National Taxation Bureau of the Central Area, attended.

Song Hsiu-ling stated that the income tax settlement filing period this year is from May 1 to June 1. It is important to note that May 1 is a national holiday, so regional taxation bureaus will not provide over-the-counter tax filing services. The public can utilize online filing and online tax payment. She also announced the annual national lottery event to encourage the public to use mobile phones to complete their 2025 consolidated income tax settlement filings.

The National Taxation Bureau of the Central Area explained that taxpayers who use mobile phones to complete their tax filing between May 1 and June 1 will get a chance to enter the draw. The top prize is an exclusive cash award of NT$50,000. In addition, there are cash prizes ranging from NT$2,000 to NT$20,000, and e-vouchers from NT$200 to NT$500, with the total prize money reaching NT$5.25 million.

The National Taxation Bureau of the Central Area elaborated that the event plans to publicly draw 19,586 lucky winners via computer randomization in August this year. For cash prizes, a winning notice will be sent via registered official mail; winners must reply with their claiming information within the deadline. E-vouchers will be notified via SMS sent through the government's "111 SMS Platform." Winners are advised to follow the SMS instructions and go to the event section on the National Taxation Bureau of the Northern Area's website to claim their prizes according to the official website's steps.
