Taipei, April 23 (CNA) -- The Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) announced today that the unemployment rate for March was 3.34%, an increase of 0.02 percentage points from February, marking the second consecutive month of increase. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.35%, which also showed an upward trend.

The DGBAS pointed out that the number of unemployed persons in March was 402,000, an increase of 2,000 from the previous month. This was mainly due to the impact of job transitions after the Lunar New Year, resulting in an increase of 5,000 people who were unemployed because they were dissatisfied with their previous jobs. Meanwhile, those who became unemployed due to workplace closures, business contractions, or the end of seasonal/temporary jobs both decreased by 2,000. Compared with the same month last year, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 1,000.
