According to the provisions of the Labor Insurance Act, using the year the annuity is received as the base period, when the cumulative growth rate of the consumer price index published by the central accounting agency reaches plus or minus 5%, the labor insurance annuity payment amount will be adjusted based on this growth rate.
Chen Mei-nu, Director of the Department of Labor Insurance at the Ministry of Labor, told a CNA reporter that in line with the growth of the consumer price index, the labor insurance annuity payments claimed by workers in 6 specific years will be adjusted this year by 6.46%, with an average increase of NT$1,224 per person.
Chen Mei-nu stated that these 6 years are the Republic of China years 100, 101, 105, 106, 107, and 111; among them, the last adjustment for years 100, 101, 105, 106, and 107 was in May of year 112. This time is another adjustment after recalculating the cumulative growth rate of the consumer price index.
Chen Mei-nu said that 769,000 people will benefit from this adjustment. The amount will be adjusted starting from May and credited in June. Workers will see two amounts at that time: one is the original payment amount, and the other is the newly added amount showing the price adjustment. They will subsequently be merged into a single amount.
