(CNA Reporter Yu Xiaohan, Taipei, 23rd) The Central Weather Administration stated that two weather fronts will arrive over the next week. The first front begins to affect the island today, with the heaviest rainfall expected from tonight until early tomorrow morning. Areas north of central Taiwan should watch out for short-duration heavy downpours.
Affected by the weather front, the weather will gradually become unstable in the afternoon. Central Weather Administration forecaster Lin Dingyi told the media that two weather fronts will affect Taiwan's weather over the next week.
Lin pointed out that starting today, under the influence of the front, the rainfall will be most apparent from tonight to early tomorrow morning. Central and northern regions must be alert to short-duration heavy downpours. Tomorrow, there will be occasional showers or thunderstorms throughout the day, especially with heavy rain in the western half of the island.
Lin stated that on the 25th, as the South China cloud and rain zone and the northeast monsoon move eastward, the weather will turn cooler across the island. The central and southern regions should watch for occasional thunderstorms with a higher chance of heavy rain. The high temperature in the northern region will be between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius, with lows around 19 to 20 degrees. The high temperature in the central and southern regions will be 27 to 28 degrees, and the south will be around 30 degrees.
Lin said that on the 26th and 27th, the weather front will move away and the rain will ease. Most areas will experience cloudy to sunny weather, with only a few regions seeing isolated short showers, and temperatures will rebound.
Lin pointed out that on the 28th, the wind will shift to a southerly direction, bringing moisture up from the south. The eastern half and Hengchun Peninsula will experience occasional short showers, while other areas will be cloudy with local short showers in the afternoon. On the 29th, another front will approach, making the weather unstable again. The northern and eastern halves will see short showers, while other regions will be cloudy to sunny, with high temperatures dropping slightly due to the front. (Editor: Li Hengshan) 1150423
