Chinese Defense Minister Visits Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Attends SCO Defense Ministers' Meeting

(CNA, Taipei, 23rd) According to a Chinese military announcement, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun will visit Russia and Kyrgyzstan today and attend the SCO Defense Ministers' meeting.

The Chinese Ministry of National Defense released an announcement today via its WeChat public account "National Defense Release," stating that at the invitation of the respective nations, Dong Jun will visit Russia and Kyrgyzstan from the 23rd to the 28th, and attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Defense Ministers' Meeting held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the announcement, during the meeting, Dong Jun will deliver a speech at the general assembly and meet with the heads of relevant national delegations to communicate and exchange views on international and regional situations, as well as defense and security cooperation.

Dong Jun and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-hosted the first meeting of the China-Cambodia Foreign and Defense Ministers' "2+2" Strategic Dialogue mechanism with Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Seiha on the 22nd.

Dong Jun stated that the current international and regional security situation is complex and ever-changing. China is willing to work with Cambodia to deeply cultivate military and security mutual trust, and make new and greater contributions to building an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era.
