Central News Agency (Taipei, 23rd) Xinhua News Agency reported today that China's anti-corruption operations in the first quarter of this year penalized a total of 183,000 individuals, including 56 high-ranking officials at the provincial and ministerial levels.

According to the report, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission announced the supervision, inspection, and investigation results of national discipline inspection and supervisory agencies for the first quarter of 2026. During this period, these agencies filed a total of 245,000 cases.

The briefing revealed that the agencies received 968,000 letters and visits of reports, of which 264,000 were whistleblowing accusations. They handled 570,000 problem clues.

Among the 245,000 filed cases, 30 involved provincial and ministerial-level cadres, 1,267 involved department and bureau-level cadres, 10,000 involved county and division-level cadres, and 33,000 involved township and section-level cadres. Additionally, cases were filed against 23,000 current or former village party branch secretaries and village committee directors.

Of the 183,000 people penalized, 135,000 received party disciplinary actions, and 61,000 received administrative penalties. The penalized included 56 provincial and ministerial-level cadres, 1,125 department and bureau-level cadres, 8,439 county and division-level cadres, 25,000 township and section-level cadres, 25,000 general cadres, and 124,000 other individuals from rural areas and enterprises.

The report also showed that in the first quarter of this year, discipline inspection agencies criticized, educated, and handled 376,000 individuals.
