(CNA Reporter Lu Jia-jung, Beijing, 23rd) The 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games will be held from August 22 to 26 at the National Speed Skating Oval "Ice Ribbon" in Beijing. It is expected to host over 30 competition events, with the addition of 8 new events including the long jump, 400-meter hurdles, weightlifting, and tug-of-war.
Xinhua News Agency reported that this year's games are divided into two main categories: athletic competitions and scenario competitions, totaling 32 events. The athletic competitions include 9 major items such as track and field, soccer, gymnastics, weightlifting, martial arts, street dance, sports dancing, tug-of-war, and pitch-pot, totaling 26 events.
The scenario competitions include 6 events such as the family scenario "domestic service post," hotel scenario "greeting service post," industrial scenario "packing and warehousing post," emergency scenario "fire rescue post," hospital scenario "pharmacist," and commercial supermarket scenario "retail service post."
Compared to the first games, this year's competition highlights three main features: "more autonomous," "more dexterous," and "more practical." In addition, several designs testing fine motor manipulation capabilities have been added, including clothing arrangement in the family scenario, firefighting operations in the emergency rescue scenario, and deli food preparation in the retail scenario.
The scenario competitions will be conducted in on-site environments such as factories, hotels, and sample family homes, allowing robots to autonomously and continuously execute long-range tasks in real and complex situations, pushing robots from "display tools" towards "practical productivity."
Yu Qingfeng, Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, stated that this year's competition events have been fully upgraded in terms of completion time, technical movement specifications, and technical difficulty. The athletic competitions mainly test the robots' athletic capabilities, coordination, and teamwork skills, showcasing the diversity, innovation, and practicality of robot application technology; the scenario competitions focus on testing the practical skills and intelligent levels of the robots.
