(CNA Reporter Kao Hua-chien, Taipei, 23rd) The Examination Yuan passed a resolution today stating that the first stage of four special civil service examinations in 2026—Diplomatic Consular and Administrative Personnel, International Economic and Commercial Personnel, Civil Aviation Personnel, and Indigenous Peoples Examinations—will be held from September 5 to 7. Additionally, the BESTEP (Bilingual Education for Students in Taiwan English Proficiency) test will be newly recognized for the English proficiency requirement for the Diplomatic and International Economics exams.
The Examination Yuan stated in a press release today that, to expand the pool of talent, the types of recognized English proficiency test scores for the Diplomatic and International Economics exams will include the BESTEP starting in 2026. Furthermore, the height restriction in the physical examination for categories such as bailiffs in the level-four Indigenous Peoples Exam has been removed.
The Examination Yuan explained that except for the written test of the Indigenous Peoples Exam, which will be held across five testing zones (Taipei, Nantou, Pingtung, Hualien, and Taitung), the other three exams and the second stage for the bailiff category of the Indigenous Peoples Exam will be held exclusively in the Taipei testing zone.
Regarding the levels, categories, and provisional quotas for these four exams, the Examination Yuan noted that the level-three Diplomatic Exam will offer 70 positions across 13 groups including the English group for Diplomatic Consular Personnel, and the level-four exam will offer 5 positions for the administrative group of Diplomatic Administrative Personnel, totaling 75 positions.
For the level-three International Economics Exam, there will be 10 positions across 4 groups, including the English group. The level-three Civil Aviation Exam will offer 42 positions across 3 categories, including air traffic control. The Indigenous Peoples Exam will offer a total of 134 positions: 72 positions across 13 categories (such as general administration) for the level-three exam, 53 positions across 15 categories for the level-four exam, and 9 positions across 2 categories for the level-five exam.
The Examination Yuan added that details regarding qualifications, subjects, question formats, grading, admission methods, and physical examination schedules and standards will be processed according to the respective exam regulations. Relevant registration information will be available in the candidate instructions starting May 13 (https://wwwc.moex.gov.tw/main/exam/wFrmExamDetail.aspx?c=115140), and registration is scheduled to be accepted via the national examination online registration information system from May 26 to June 4.
