(CNA, Copenhagen, 23rd, Comprehensive Foreign Dispatch) Danish emergency rescue units stated that two local trains collided head-on around 6 a.m. today, injuring at least 17 people, four of whom are in critical condition.

Footage from the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) showed that the front ends of the two yellow and gray trains were visibly damaged, stopped facing each other in a wooded area.

Police said the accident occurred on the railway line connecting Hillerod and Kagerup, north of Copenhagen.

A spokesperson for the rescue unit told Reuters: "Two local trains collided head-on, and some passengers were injured. Everyone has left the carriages, and no one is trapped... A large amount of rescue resources has been dispatched to the scene."

The fire department stated on the social platform X that the injured have been transported to the hospital by ambulances and helicopters respectively.

According to an AFP report, Denmark has always prided itself on its good safety record, but in 2019 there was a train accident that killed 8 people and injured 16. Last August, an express train hit an agricultural truck at a level crossing, killing 1 person and injuring 27. (Translator: Kao Chao-fen / Editor: Liu Shu-chin) 1150423
