(CNA Reporter Yeh Chen, Taoyuan, 22nd) To encourage small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the city to strengthen their technological innovation and research and development, the Taoyuan City Government is organizing the "Local Industry Innovation and R&D Promotion Program (Local SBIR)." Applications are handled online, offering a maximum subsidy of NT$2 million. Registration is open from now until noon on June 1.

The Taoyuan City Government Department of Economic Development stated today that the program will be comprehensively implemented via online application this year. A single application can receive a maximum subsidy of NT$1 million, while joint applications can receive up to NT$2 million. The acceptance period is from today until 12:00 PM on June 1.

The Department explained that any company or commercial entity registered in Taoyuan City that meets the criteria for SMEs can apply. The core of the proposed projects must be innovative technology R&D, covering five major fields: electronics and ICT, food and biotech pharmaceuticals, metals and machinery, livelihood chemicals, and innovative services. Enterprises can choose one to apply for.

The Department also noted that the program includes a bonus point mechanism. Proposing companies will receive bonus points if their projects involve key areas such as AI application services, smart manufacturing, or low-carbon applications. Additional points are also given to those established in the Hutoushan Innovation Hub R&D Incubation Platform, youth startup bases under the Taoyuan Youth Affairs Bureau, or those cooperating with Taoyuan City's colleges and universities for outsourced R&D or joint proposals.

To help businesses understand the program details, the Department of Economic Development mentioned that six briefing sessions are planned from this month until May. Relevant registration information can be found on the "Taoyuan Investment Promotion Network." (Editor: Chen Ching-fang) 1150422
