(CNA Reporter Wu Jui-chi, Taoyuan Airport, 22nd) To relieve traffic congestion during peak pickup hours, the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation has designated rental car reservation pickup areas at meeting points 6-10 on the south curbside of Terminal 1, and on the first floor of the P4 parking lot at Terminal 2. This provides a comfortable waiting environment and increases the turnover rate of pickup vehicles.

Taoyuan International Airport Corporation issued a press release this afternoon stating that passenger volume reached 47.8 million in 2025, a record high post-pandemic. As travelers' transportation needs continue to rise, coupled with the expropriation for the Aerotropolis project and related construction severely reducing peripheral parking, more passengers are switching to rental car pickups. This has caused severe congestion at the terminal curbside during peak hours, reducing lane efficiency and affecting service quality.

The airport corporation said that, referencing diversion management experiences from benchmark international airports, the trialed reservation pickup areas are located at Terminal 1's south curbside meeting points 6-10, and Terminal 2's P4 parking lot 1st floor meeting points 51-55 and 61-62. Parking spaces are provided for reserved vehicles, and directional floor stickers and signs are installed to guide users, dispersing the pressure of rental cars waiting for passengers at the curbside and relieving peak-hour congestion.

The airport corporation pointed out that observing the usage of the reservation pickup area from its opening on the 13th to the 20th, about 26% of passengers at Terminal 1 and 8% at Terminal 2 chose to take rental cars at the reservation pickup area. The waiting time for rental cars in this area increased by about 15% to 24% compared to the original curbside, indicating that this service is gradually being accepted by passengers.

The airport corporation reminded that the reservation pickup area is only for temporary stopping to pick up/drop off passengers; please do not park for long periods. In addition, temporary parking in the P4 parking lot is free within 30 minutes, allowing up to 3 times a day, which drivers are welcome to utilize. Existing terminal curbside meeting points remain available for passengers and relatives to choose according to their needs, offering diverse pickup options.

The airport corporation will continuously review the scale, flow planning, and related supporting measures of the reservation pickup area based on usage during the trial period to provide a friendlier and more convenient travel experience. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150422
