Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association for Sustainable Development: Strong Demand for Green Electricity from Semiconductor Industry, Fishery and Agriculture Should Advance Together

(Central News Agency reporter Chang Chien-chung, Taipei, 22nd) The Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association for Sustainable Development held its general meeting today. Honorary Chairman Tsai Chia-chin stated that to meet the rigid demand for green electricity from the semiconductor industry, efforts should be made to advance fishery-solar symbiosis, agricultural integration, low-lying land utilization, and orderly opening, while also promoting public welfare-oriented solar power to reverse prejudice through a win-win model.

The Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association for Sustainable Development held its general meeting on Earth Day. Tsai Chia-chin said that drawing lessons from South Korea's experience, public welfare-oriented solar power should be promoted, with profits returned to local communities or elderly farmers' pensions, to reverse prejudice through a win-win model.

Chairman Shen Shang-hung stated that large industrial developers have not retreated recently, and with a sense of mission as a "solar power national team," they continue to optimize development processes to ensure stable output of green electricity.

Vice Chairmen Li Hao and Tan Yu-hsuan offered suggestions on regulatory systems. Li Hao pointed out that fragmented regulations impact investment confidence and suggested unifying regulatory logic and revising laws again if necessary.

Tan Yu-hsuan said that cumbersome administrative issues such as existing utility poles and fish farms mixed with state-owned land are gradually being improved, and he looks forward to promoting tiered review and simplified procedures in the future to accelerate installation efficiency.

Executive Director Wang Wen-wei stated that the solar power industry is not just a competition in development speed, but should consider its long-term role in energy transition. Operators should adhere to the principle of high-standard self-discipline, ensuring that solar power contributes to the environment rather than plundering it, and achieving a balance with societal expectations to ensure stable and long-term development.

Regarding fishery-solar symbiosis projects, which are a concern for society, the Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association for Sustainable Development pointed out that the investment in fishery-solar symbiosis projects often amounts to billions of yuan, and operators will not risk license revocation by operating dishonestly. They support the government in implementing verification and management. In the future, they will continue to promote a specialized division of labor model for aquaculture and smart monitoring to achieve the dual goals of aquaculture upgrading and energy transition.
