(CNA Reporter Wang Yang-yu, Taipei, 22nd) The Presidential Office stated that President Lai Ching-te's planned visit to the African ally, the Kingdom of Eswatini, on the 22nd was postponed due to Chinese interference. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) caucus in the Legislative Yuan issued condemnations and protests today, pointing out that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is brutally and unreasonably suppressing Taiwan's international space, isolating the Republic of China (ROC), and intimidating the Taiwanese people.

President Lai's trip to Eswatini, scheduled for today, was postponed because Seychelles, Mauritius, and Madagascar suddenly canceled the special flight permits. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today sternly refuted the fallacious claims made by Seychelles and Madagascar that undermined Taiwan's sovereignty, emphasizing that the statements from these two countries further prove China is the mastermind behind the scenes.

DPP Legislative Yuan Caucus Director-General Chuang Jui-hsiung, Secretary-General Fan Yun, Deputy Director-General Chen Pei-yu, and Deputy Secretary-General Huang Chieh held a press conference today to respond to the issue. Addressing the topic, Chuang Jui-hsiung said that today was supposed to be the date of President Lai's visit, but the itinerary was canceled due to the CCP's unreasonable international suppression. The DPP caucus must strictly propose condemnations and protests. This is not an isolated diplomatic incident but a systematic suppression of Taiwan on the international stage.

Chuang stated that the whole world can see the CCP interfering in the sovereignty of other countries through economic and political pressure. This is not just directed at Taiwan but is a challenge to the international order and the principle of freedom of movement.

Chuang added that if even the state visits of a head of state face suppression and obstruction, it is highly ironic compared to KMT Chairman Cheng Li-wun's recent visit to China, where she enthusiastically talked about the 'one family' concept upon returning to Taiwan. He urged the KMT to wake up.

Fan Yun stated that the Republic of China is an independent sovereign state, and the 23 million Taiwanese people have the right to step into the world. The CCP's goal is to isolate the ROC and intimidate the Taiwanese people, but virtue is never left to stand alone. The DPP caucus thanked the EU spokesperson and the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), connecting over 300 parliamentarians globally, for speaking out. She also expressed hope that Taiwan internally should unite across party lines to condemn the CCP.

When asked by the media if the government failed to grasp the situation in advance regarding the sudden cancellation of President Lai's itinerary.

Fan Yun responded that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and national security units had done everything possible, and the final decision to postpone was based on the safety of the head of state. At a time like this, people should be alert about those who point their guns inward. (Editor: Su Chih-tsung)
