(CNA Reporter Tsao Ya-yen, New Taipei, 22nd) As the 2026 local elections approach, the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office teamed up with the New Taipei City Investigation Bureau today to hold a symposium. They emphasized that prosecutors and investigators will cooperate in investigating cases related to election interference, and must focus on preventing election gambling and foreign intervention, prosecuting them as quickly as possible.

The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office issued a press release today stating that in preparation for the local elections at the end of the year, the office has deployed its election interference investigation operations ahead of time. Starting in March, Chief Prosecutor Kuo Yung-fa has led head prosecutors and prosecutors to the 11 precincts of the New Taipei City Police Department to hold regional symposiums on election interference investigations.

This morning, Kuo Yung-fa again led Head Prosecutor Chen Hsu-hua and others to the New Taipei City Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau for a symposium. During the meeting, directors from the New Taipei Investigation Bureau's Mobile, Banqiao, Chongxin, and Shuanghe stations presented reports on current election condition analysis, informant deployment status, and investigation plans for various types of election interference cases.

New Taipei City Investigation Bureau Director Chen Yu-yuan pointed out that a handling plan has been formulated for this election investigation. To date, over a dozen suspected illegal tips have been reported, and they will work closely with prosecutors to gather evidence and prosecute.

Chen Hsu-hua reminded everyone to pay close attention to vote-buying hotspots, implement the collection of criminal evidence, and trace the sources. Furthermore, cases involving fake news and gambling rings that seriously disrupt the electoral order must be investigated and prosecuted rapidly to minimize their negative effects.

Kuo Yung-fa emphasized that elections are crucial to maintaining our country's democratic system. The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office and the New Taipei City Investigation Bureau must cooperate and establish smooth communication channels. Election gambling rings must be prosecuted swiftly, with special attention paid to preventing foreign intervention. All external station bases should advocate securing voter support through legitimate means, and urge people not to use holidays to give gifts or organize trips that could be suspected of vote-buying, lest they put themselves at risk of investigation. If there are any election interference cases, regardless of party affiliation or ethnicity, they will all be strictly and swiftly investigated without exception. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150422
