(CNA Reporter Chao Min-ya, Taipei 22nd) The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) stated today that Deputy Minister Hou Yi-hsiu was recently invited to attend a privacy forum held in Italy. At the AI governance high-level dialogue session, she shared Taiwan's practical experience in AI policy, data governance, and the promotion of a Traditional Chinese corpus with high-level officials and experts from various countries, deepening exchanges with the international digital field.
MODA pointed out that the privacy forum is one of the high-level and deeply influential multilateral dialogue platforms in the global field of data governance and innovative technology compliance. This forum was co-participated by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), French Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), and the Italian Data Protection Authority (GPDP). MODA's invitation this time shows that Taiwan's data governance achievements are internationally recognized.
Hou Yi-hsiu first shared Taiwan's AI governance experience at the forum with the topic "AI Empowers Taiwan: From Talent, Data to Governance". She pointed out that Taiwan promulgated and implemented the "Artificial Intelligence Basic Act" in January, laying the legal framework for AI governance, using the concept of collaborative governance to join hands with all sectors to respond to the opportunities and challenges brought by the AI wave, ensuring both AI innovation development and security.
Hou Yi-hsiu said that Taiwan plays a key role in the global AI industry supply chain. At the same time, MODA cultivates AI talents through courses, internships, and cross-disciplinary competitions, and has formulated the "Act for Promotion of Data Innovation, Utilization and Development", based on privacy-first design, to promote data circulation and innovation among agencies. In addition, MODA integrates high-quality Traditional Chinese corpora through the "Taiwan Sovereign AI Training Corpus", opening it up for public use, which is an important foundation for developing local AI applications.
MODA stated that through dialogue and exchange with high-level officials from many countries at this forum, it laid the foundation for future bilateral or multilateral cooperation. It will continue to deepen exchanges with various countries, aligning closely with the international community under the concept of collaborative governance in the AI wave, to co-create a trustworthy digital environment.
