(CNA Reporter Yu Yao-ju, Vilnius, 22nd) The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated yesterday that Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vidmantas Verbickas and representatives from the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation recently met with Taiwan's Representative to Lithuania, Wang Hsueh-hong. The two sides discussed an "Economic Cooperation Action Plan," which is expected to be signed in early June.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the 21st, pointing out that the cooperation initiative proposed by Lithuania has received a positive response from Taiwan and is seen as an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral economic relations.

According to the plan, the action plan will cover multiple key areas, including high-tech and defense industries, finance, semiconductors, science and innovation, agriculture, as well as legal and regulatory cooperation, and development cooperation projects in Ukraine.

Vidmantas Verbickas stated that the action plan demonstrates both sides' determination to develop a mutually beneficial partnership and will focus on the development of modern technology, opening a new phase for economic relations between Lithuania and Taiwan.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that both sides discussed potential project implementation schedules, funding mechanisms, and institutional participation methods, agreeing to finalize the plan's contents by the end of May and officially sign it in early June.

According to the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, Wang Hsueh-hong said that Taiwan is ready to join hands with the Lithuanian government, building on the solid foundation laid over the past four years, to deepen bilateral cooperation in economy, technology, and other areas of mutual interest.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that both sides will continue to maintain close dialogue and move toward launching the plan's execution phase in the near future to ensure the cooperation brings tangible benefits to the bilateral economy and promotes common strategic goals.
